RobotDigg miniature linear guideway; single rail cut to length with a single long block. Highest preload (Z1) and normal (N) precision guarantees a stiff / play-free and binding-free motion.

Warranty

The blocks and rails are non-interchangeable - keep the blocks on the rails! A violation does expire warranty effectively.

Cleaning

We strongly recommend to clean the rails before lubrication. Put a zip tie through the very last holes to ensure the block can not escape the rail. Fill a glass with some grease solvent and soak the blocks for at least an hour. Rinse the blocks and wipe the rail from any residue grease with a lint-free cloth.

Lubrication

We recommend to lubricate the ball races and bearing balls with grease, and cover the entire rail itself in a thin coat of grease to prevent oxidation. Recommended lubricants (in no particular order):

Note: lubricants containing MoS2 or graphite must not be used.

GCr15 / Bearing Steel

GCr15 is a very well known and worlwide used bearing steel. For the looks and to improve resistance to rust, we oxidise them black!

440C SUS / Stainless Steel

440C is most famous as one of the best and most versatile cutlery steel. Its very hard, resistant to rust, is good for polishing and in general an overachiever in its area.

Cleaning

Our rails come preserved with oil so they are protected against the elements while waiting for being installed in a new printer. This oil needs to be removed before usage, it's not feasible as lubricant!

We recommend to lubricate the ball races and bearing balls with grease, and cover the entire rail itself in a thin coat of grease to prevent oxidation.

Preload

Preload determines the stiffness of your linear guide. The higher the preload, the stiffer. Free running rails can wobble which will result in noise and vibrations and visible defects in your overall print quality (i.e. layer stacking). Our rails are specced with the highest preload level available - reducing noise and vibrations and improving your print quality!

Direct replacement for GE5C spherical bearings. igubal® spherical bearings The use of spherical bearings is usually associated with high weight bearing materials, difficult installation, and high costs. Most of the time, maintenance is still necessary over the long-term, and the bearings are only corrosion-resistant in special designs. Often roller bearings or plain bearings malfunction prematurely due to high edge loads, or because they need to be elaborately readjusted, reamed, or refitted in order to compensate for alignment errors. igubal® spherical bearings put an end to all of these disadvantages and open up many new possibilities for your engineering design: they are easy to handle, cost-effective, lightweight and robust. The housing is made from igumid G, an extremely impact-resistant, long-fibre-reinforced polymer. Suitable for temperatures from -30 °C to +80 °C in long-term use. In standard spherical bearings, the spherical ball is made from iglidur® W300 material, which is known for lowest coefficients of friction in dry operation and extremely low tendency to stick-slip. This is especially important for low loads and very slow movements. The shaft tolerance should be between h6 and h9. The bearing clearance allows for expansion of the bearings due to increasing temperatures. Assembly igubal® spherical bearings are press-fitted into a recommended H7 housing bore and axially secured. Exact alignment of the bearing housing is not necessary since the spherical bearing automatically compensates for alignment errors.
